NEWS REPORT: Germany’s under 17 men’s team and Hungary’s under 17 girls ’s team have tasted first victory on the Olympic level with both squads topping the podium in the European Youth Olympic Festival at Győr
On Saturday afternoon, a different immigrant team celebrated on the courtroom as the country ’s under 17 girls ’s team beat Romania 30:23 to win gold in the European Youth Olympic Festival.
Only 1 match later, the men’s winners were also known with Germany beating Slovenia 29:26 to top the podium. For Slovenia it had been the second time in a row they finished next. Germany had won bronze in the EYOF 2015 at Tbilisi, Georgia.
Bronze went from the men’as they conquer France 29:26 to 2015 winners s occasion.
The girls ’s occasion can be a considered a sort of prelude for the Women’s 17 EHF EURO 2017 that will take place in Slovakia from 10 to 20 August.
Hungary and Denmark have been seeded in the Exact Same group; a chance for the Danes to take revenge for its 32:24 weight reduction loss they conceded in Győr.
The idea of the European Youth Olympic Festival has been brought to existence in 1990 by Jacques Rogge, former president of the International Olympic Committees, with the intention to Offer a possibility for young athletes to get to know the Olympic Movement and learn about the Olympic values and ideals.
