WHAT: SHOWTIME Sports provides a day in the life of coaching camp using unified 154-pound world winner Jarrett Hurd as he prepares for his first bout since becoming unified winner on the undercard of the heavyweight blockbuster comprising Deontay Wilder vs. Tyson Fury live on SHOWTIME PPV Saturday, December 1 (9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT) from STAPLES Center in Los Angeles.

Hurd (22-0, 15 KOs) is set to defend his IBF and WBA titles against British Commonwealth winner Jason Welborn (24-6, 7 KOs). Hurd, who edged winner Erislandy Lara on SHOWTIME, will enter the ring for the first time.

In the middle of training camp in preparation for his first pay-per-view card, the humble and grounded Hurd’s action-packed day included physical therapy, sparring, walking, swimming, movie study and much more –his day always begins and ends with his household in his parent’s Accokeek, Md. home.

“Family is the most crucial,” Hurd explained. “Not my family, but my cousins, aunts and uncles are close. It’s such a great feeling as when I fight, everybody is there, to have those boxing occasions. It’s like a family reunion. ”

Without looking past his December 1 competitor, Hurd does have his eyes on another name unification in 2019 with a single competitor.

“I told me that no matter what, I’theres not stepping up a weight class till I fight with [Jermell Charlo]. He’s worried. You can tell by his demeanor. He’s done. He understands that there’s something about this guy Jarrett, even though he doesn’t even have the best style style, he’s not the fastest, he’s perhaps not the most powerful, he knows how to win.

“My main aims in life, after this boxing match, I h to be remembered as me. I don’t states Hurd in the conclusion of the almost feature video. “I don’t even need to be the next Floyd Mayweather. I don’t even need to be the next Sugar Ray Leonard. I don’t even need to be the next anyone. I Would like to be the next ‘Swift’ Jarrett Hurd. ”

A heavyweight world championship showdown that pits WBC winner Wilder against lineal champion Fury headlines the SHOWTIME PPV event. Along with Hurd-Welborn, the PPV undercard features heavyweight competition Luis Ortiz climbing Joe Joyce battling Joe Hanks and facing off against Travis Kauffman. In action on SHOWTIME BOXING: SPECIAL EDITION are former champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. and hard-hitting Alfredo Angulo in a super middleweight battle and Adonis Stevenson defending his WBC Light Heavyweight World Championship against undefeated, compulsory challenger Oleksandr Gvozdyk from Quebec City.
