Maurizio Sarri confessed the triumph over BATE was the outcome, following their below-par performance.
BATE have beaten an English side just once out of six efforts after their 1-0 defeat at the Borisov Arena courtesy of Olivier Giroud’s header.
However they could have obtained at least a point against Sarri’s guys after hitting the woodwork three times and forcing goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga to two saves that were strong.
Sarri explained:”The ideal situation this evening is the outcome. We didn’t play really well.
“It wasn’t very easy to play a good game . It had all the conditions to \play poorly, the competitions, with all the chilly , the pitch. I believe we might have done better”
Sarri was impressed with a first half Chelsea, who didn’t register a shot\.
He added:”I did not like the first half. The ball only horizontal and gradually moved. It was really quite hard to become harmful.
“It was better in the first 20 or 25 minutes of the second half. We managed not \very well the previous 15 minutes.
“Today I was in trouble, too. I’d fever. It was a day for me. I really don’t know if I’m improving or if it’s just the temperature.”
