Casillas was one player who didn’t enjoy Mourinho’s time in Madrid as he was dropped by the Portuguese coach part-way throught the 2012-13 campaign.
Mourinho preferred to play Diego Lopez instead, with rumours claiming that the current Manchester United boss had found out that Casillas had been leaking stories to the press.
In an interview with former Argentina international Jorge Valdano, Casillas admitted that he had regrets over staying “quiet” around Mourinho and not confronting him.
“It wasn’t good for him, nor for me nor for the club,” Casillas told channel . “I think if it happened all over again, I would have taken the bull by the horns and faced Mourinho.”
And Mourinho has responded to Casillas’ interview by saying it reminded him of an interview with someone in the twilight of their career.
“It looks like an interview with someone who is at the end of his career,” Mourinho told Portuguese sports daily .
“When he says he never confronted me he’s not telling the truth.
“He confronted me and he did it in a way in which no-one does it better than him, secretly.”
