Competing for the first time since retiring in 2010, Liddell lost to Ortiz after defeating him twice via KO/TKO in 2006 and 2004.

Ortiz said afterward that his gameplan was to outbox Liddell instead of rely and Liddell admitted after spending eight years on the sidelines to being overly cautious in his approach.

Liddell indicated that he was OK health-e and downplayed the severity of the knockout.

Liddell added that he has “admiration ” for Ortiz regardless of their bitter rivalry and congratulated his fellow Hall of Famer.

Though he may not be convinced about his next move, Liddell promised that the experience of returning to combat Ortiz once more had revived something inside of him which will ensure he stays in the fitness center for the foreseeable future — even if it’s in a supportive function.
