“We conceded five [league] goals and you say our midfield is overrun? I don’t see that. No, I don’t see any problems in midfield.”

On their loss to , Klopp added: “We weren’t happy with what we did, we weren’t happy with what they did. After the game on Wed night we would have wanted to play again straight away, preferably against them.”

On whether past results matter in a derby, Klopp continued: “I couldn’t even tell you how we got on against at home last season, it’s not important.

“We just have to make sure we are ready for this one and create an atmosphere which is exceptional to help the team. The boys deserve it 100%.”
