The provisional entry list for the 2019 world championship lists the group and chassis title as Racing Point, but that’s only a temporary measure as the Silverstone outfit makes the transition from its former identity since Force India.
The FIA was keen for the group to use the company name created to the acquisition from new proprietor Lawrence Stroll so as to distinguish the new organisation from the prior incarnation since Sahara Force India.
However, Stroll does not have any specific affinity to the title, and there is a new one currently under discussion.
“It is just a placeholder to indicate future change which will take place and be declared until the 2019 season,” Szafnauer told Motorsport.com.
Changing a team and domain is not as complicated than it was, and groups no longer have to get the permission of the F1 Commission, and thus the support of rivals.
Rather they have to apply to the FIA and adhere to the right procedure.
