AC Milan were in discussions with Zlatan Ibrahimovic along with a possible loan from LA Galaxy but the deal has dropped, the club’s sporting director Leonardo has confirmed.
The 37-year-old scored greater than 50 targets in 2 seasons for Milan and allow them to win the 2011 Serie A title but will not create a temporary return to Italy.
“He gave his word to Galaxy that he would stay if they satisfied his terms, and they did thus,” Leonardo said.
“It might have been a very lovely story as it would have contributed a significant weight to the group.
“We can’t deny that both parties thought it, but it will not be possible.”
It’d have been a very lovely story because it would have given a Substantial weight to the team.
Milan was hopeful of securing a loan similar to the deal that was reached between the nightclubs in 2009 for David Beckham – despite Ibrahimovic judgment out a January transfer to Europe at November.
He’s come to be a fan favourite in the MLS, since joining from Manchester United, having scored 22 goals in 27 appearances.
Los Angeles’ season ended in the 2019 MLS season and October does not start until March, although Milan are fourth in Serie A having scored only 3 goals in their past four matches.
