COSTA MESA, Calif. — LosAngeles Chargers running Melvin Gordon said he anticipates the decision about whether he plays Thursday night in a nationally televised game against the Kansas City Chiefs to go all the way until game season.

“I’ve been grinding hard to get straight back and we’re still trying to determine what we will do,” Gordon said Tuesday. “I understand Coach [Anthony Lynn] is hoping to be careful and does not desire me to further hurt myself or things like that. Therefore we’ll see where that goes, but I’m a whole great deal stronger and more confident than I had been the other day .”

Gordon suffered a sprained right knee against the Arizona Cardinals that forced him to miss the previous two games. The Wisconsin product appeared than expected while working together with coaches on the field before the Chargers’ conquer the Cincinnati Bengals last week, however he remains a questionmark to play with on Thursday.

Gordon said the decision would be a one made between both the medical team, himself and Chargers’ brass. He’s 802 racing yards and 13 total touchdowns .

“I’m optimistic,” Lynn said. “He is one of our greatest players. I would prefer for him to play. We’re wanting to win every game we could to get into the playoffs, however if he’s not ready, he isn’t going to play with .”

Gordon reported the week that was brief makes it tougher because he will not get a practice to reveal what they could do to get in the field Thursday night.

“I would really like to be out there,” Gordon said. “I know it is really a big game and I understand the people want me to be out there. We need each one of the playmakers we could to be at K.C.; you know how explosive there are.

“I simply love football, and we’ve only got several matches before we get to the offseason, we may certainly do what we would like todo.”

Ekeler was diagnosed with a concussion, so he has to go through the concussion protocol of the league and also likely won’t be cleared in time for Thursday’s game.

Jackson will have the benefit of getting first-team reps this week if they come within a practice on Tuesday.

“It definitely helps, obtaining some chemistry with all the inventors,” Jackson said. “Even when I had been playing on scout group, I was just working in my match. Now at this point everyone is trying to master their craft, and it’s really not any different for me.”

“I think that they’ll be good,” Rivers said. “It is just over-communicating with the noise to pass security and what route they have, most of those things — so reminding them offering reassurance to have just a tiny bit away from these they are able to play fast.”
