Cristiano Ronaldo says that he was disappointed not to win the Ballon d’Or and maintained the”numbers don’t lie” after being beaten to the award by Luka Modric.
The 33-year-old, who joined Juventus in the summer for a fee in the region of 105m, finished second in the voting behind his former Real Madrid team-mate.
Ronaldo has won the award five timesthe same also picked up the prize at 2016 and 2017.
Modric was named the winner of that year after serving Real Madrid win directing Croatia into the World Cup final in the summer and the Champions League last year, but Ronaldo thinks he deserved to win it.
“Of course I’m disappointed, but life goes on and I will continue to work hard,” he told the press.
“On the pitch I have done every thing to win the Ballon d’Or, figures do not lie, but I’m no less happy if I don’t win, but I’ve got amazing friends and a family, I play in one of the greatest clubs.
“Congratulations to Modric, who’s earned the awardwinning, but the next year we’ll meet again and I will do whatever to win the decoration.
“Do you think I am going home and yelling?”
Ronaldo has scored 11 goals in all competitions this year for Juventus, bringing his career total to 584.
