The NBA has added another gaming partner in the expanding U.S. sports betting market.
The NBA announced a multiyear partnership with international gaming operator The Stars Group, which also is currently going betting licensing process and runs the BetStars online sportsbook in New Jersey.
The deal will make The Stars Group a certified gaming operator of their NBA from the U.S.. The company will have league symbols and marks and the right to utilize official NBA data across sports betting offerings.
The NBA can promote The Stars Group round the globe’s digital resources, including NBA-TV, NBA.com, the NBA Program and NBA socialmedia platforms. Subsequently, The Stars Group can promote the NBA across its gaming systems, including internet poker site PokerStars.
The partnership may be the NBA’s second with a gaming operator in the U.S. sports betting market, following a Supreme Court ruling in May which opened a path for countries to authorize legal sportsbooks. The NBA declared MGM Resorts International as the State gaming partner of the NBA and WNBA this summer. The NBA logo hangs in the Sports Book at the Borgata, an MGM property in Atlantic City, New Jersey.
The deal would be the first for Your Stars Group with a U.S. pro sports league.
“Our partnership with the NBA, adding use of NBA’s real time data and intellectual property, further enriches consumer confidence within our offering and acts as a formal endorsement of our BetStars sportsbook offering here in the States,” Matt Primeaux, The Stars Group senior vice president of operations and strategy U.S., told ESPN.
NBA and also the Stars Group also will collaborate on information sharing and responsible gaming aimed at protecting the integrity of this game.
Considering that the Supreme Court ruling in May Sports Book have opened New Mexico, Mississippi, New Jersey, Delaware, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and West Virginia.
