Huddersfield Town midfielder Aaron Mooy was eliminated until February.
The 28-year-old tore the lateral collateral ligament in his right knee in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat by Arsenal.
International Mooy may even skip out the Asia Cup in January.
Club captain Tommy Smith tore his hamstring against Arsenal and will be out before January, while midfielder Abdelhamid Sabiri is due to return in February by the broken collarbone.
“I’m gutted to be overlooking an essential time for golf and country,” explained Mooy, who has started 1-5 times for the Terriers at the Premier League this season.
Terriers manager David Wagner said:”the headlines on Aaron and Tommy is not some thing we all wanted, but injuries are a part of football; we all have to take care of it, manage it and carry into this crucial December period.
“For now, this creates chances for many others .”
