The Royals will more than probably slot the Major League’s 2018 stolen-base leader, Whit Merrifield, at the lead off spot. The speedy Adalberto Mondesi settled in to the No. 2 spot late , giving the Royals a disruptive tandem at the peak of the order.

Hamilton, who averaged almost 5-8 steals a season for 4 years final year, before falling to 3-4, struck mostly from the spot to the Reds last season. Will Royals manager Ned Yost try Hamilton from the No. 9 spot, giving the Royals a trifecta of rate at 9-1-2?

If asked, yost, of course, playfully bristled.

“Where do you? We’re in Nevada. I am at the poker table. My cards are not dealt nonetheless,” Yost said. “Let me see where we are. Here you go. You need answers. It’s December. Could we acquire to fan fest and wait until January 30th? Let us wait and watch “

Yost, though settled down to talk about rate all through his order.

‘I like the reality — once I sit back and look at it,” [Chris Owings] has pace, he is definitely going in order to perform things,” Yost said.” Hunter Dozier has really a deceiving type of rate. I think Hunter should be able to sneak 15 to 20 foundations. And so we’re going to own plenty of athleticism, a lot of rate.

“But in relation to looking at the lineup, you have Whit, who is a huge on-base proportion guy, led baseball in hits, in stolen bases. Mondi getting to their own past year. [Alex Gordon] really prospered from the three hole. Jorge Soler finding its way straight back, and he really was beginning to lose until he broke his foot. And we’re going to own plenty of options, and we’ll sit down whenever we arrive at Spring Training and experiment with the lineup and see what’s best. Not what works best, since it’s difficult to tell in Spring Training, however, what seems most useful, and proceed from there.”

After moments of discussing Hamilton’s crime, Yost afterward looked out to explore the most impressive skill: defense of his fresh outfielder.

“I’ve talked to numerous Cincinnati people about him, and so they loved him,” Yost said. “But we are spoiled for decades together with Lorenzo Cain in center field, a tremendous defender in a large ballpark. And having Billy drifting that ground from gap to gap on the market, we’ve got Alex Gordon and a good deal of great candidates in rightfield with [Brian Goodwin], with Soler, with [Jorge Bonifacio], with Brett Phillips. We’ll have a lot of chances and match and determine what fits and what’s beneficial for people.

“The major issue is that we now have that rate today. We did not have it last year. We’d Whit, however, Mondi was at the Minor Leagues (at the first half). So we have them now, and that’s exactly what we wanted to get straight back “
