Philadelphia Eagles quarter back Carson Wentz experienced a scan on his rear Wednesday that was inconclusive and had been scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday to help diagnose a concern that’s plagued him for a few weeks, a source told ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

Wentz is not likely to play Sunday night against the Los Angeles Rams, the source said. NFL Network first reported that Wentz was not able with this week to play with.

Eagles trainer Doug Pederson said Wednesday the Wentz was experiencing”soreness” and”stiffness” in his back and wouldn’t practice.

This is simply not the first time this season that Wentz has appeared on the accident report as a result of his back. He had been a participant on consecutive Wednesdays in late October, but Wednesday’s absence marked the very first time he’s missed a practice in 2013.

It had been Monday that Wentz tore the ACL and also L-cL in his left knee against the Rams. The most important storyline heading into this week was Wentz’s come back to Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum for the first time since the injury to get a rematch against Jared Goff, who travelled first overall in the 2016 NFL draft, one slot in front of Wentz.

Now it’s uncertain if he will be able to playwith. In case he can not, superbowl MVP Nick Foles would consider the reins since the 6-7 Eagles try to maintain their playoff hopes alive from the 11-2 Rams.
