Manchester City director Pep Guardiola says midfielder Kevin de Bruyne finished last season”tired”.
After enduring two knee injuries, de Bruyne has played only five times for City this season.
He has begun and is to complete the full 90 minutes for its Premier League winners.
The Belgian might create his comeback at home to Everton and is in training.
But following a 1-2 months when De Bruyne then played a central role in Belgium’s third-place finish at the World Cup and made 52 appearances, Guardiola believes the break might be beneficial.
The Spanish boss said:”Kevin ended last season tired.
“It was really tough because of him and when he returned I had the feeling he was slightly tired.
“Occasionally people recover quite well, sometimes mentally it requires time. We did not desire him to be injured but it helped us now he’s fresh in his head”
De Bruyne’s final appearance was contrary to Fulham in the EFL Cup November.
Guardiola says the & pound registering Wolfsburg has been missed by City even though, before a week’s defeat at Chelseathey had won.
He explained:”Kevin is a special player for us.
“He needs to regain his entire condition. He is able to avert more injuries and play frequently.”
