Sergio Pettis’ performance on Saturday night could portend the future of a flyweight division in regular.
With the UFC’rsquo & s weight-class; future question, several fighters have been cut, and others have moved up to 135.
Pettis did the latter on FOX 3-1 because of his fight UFC, returning to bantamweight after a stint in 125. But he looked too small against a bigger and stronger Rob Font, that earned a unanimous decision at Fiserv Forum at Pettis’ Length of Milwaukee. The judges’ scores were 30-27 round the board.
Font made his intentions known whilst the Bostonarea competitor found a home using his jab. He landed the jab at will, keeping Pettis from getting any offense untracked. Font scored in the round and dishes from the position out offense.
The pattern continued as rsquo & Pettis . Font continued to use footwork and his jab. Pettis managed a late take down, but Font correct and got Pettis in the circular & rsquo into a Kimura .
It was but academic as Font controlled the bout on the feet and the mat.
“Watch out for Sergio Pettis, this kid is young and he’s a beast,” Font stated. “I got my jab moving than I thought he & rsquo;d be, however he was much slicker with the mind movement. That I got the ring time although I didn & rsquo; t even receive the conclusion plus that I got the ‘rsquo & W.;”
With the victory, Font has won two of his past and increased with his career decision victory three. Pettis 17-5 has dropped three and two straight.
