The big-play Miami Dolphins struck on Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.

According to NFL Next Gen Stats, Kalen Ballage reached 21.87 mph on his 75-yard touchdown run at the next quarter, the fastest top speed with a Dolphins ball carrier at the past few seasons.

The play started with Nick O’Leary building a solid meaty block blitzing Vikings safety Harrison Smith. Right guard Jesse Davis blasting off his defender, developing a nice hole onto the perfect side to Ballage. Kenny Stills also deserves credit for keeping a handful of defenders inhabited as he blocked downfield.

It had been 50 yards or more’s 12th touchdown to the Dolphins this year, but the most in franchise history. It’s the absolute most by any team since the ny Giants had 12 at the 2015 season.

Ballage, a rookie in Arizona State, had just eight carries for 11 yards getting into the game, but he got his opportunity after Frank Gore abandoned the game with a left ankle/foot injury and didn’t reunite. Ballage had 10 carries for 108 yards after three quarters.
