This appears to be a punishment, not a privilege.
And unless general director Brian Gutekunst or team president Mark Murphy tells interim coach Joe Philbin they wish to watch DeShone Kizer or they just want to be certain their $134 million quarterback doesn’t do anything to undermine his health insurance and accessibility for the beginning of next season, it resembles Rodgers will receive his need to play next Sunday at the New York Jets. That is when the Packers will try to secure their first road game of the summer season in their very last chance to do so before closing out the season.
This may be a very good time for Rodgers.
Actually, the very first 14 games of the season would have been enough time.
For those who went wrong for the Packers from Sunday’s 24-17 loss into the NFC North-clinching Chicago Bears in Soldier Field and for many that the Packers were lost in relation to key players, they could have avoided play off removal at least for a week’d Rodgers played like the Rodgers of older — and that’s not all that long ago.
Needless to say, had Rodgers played that way more regularly this year, then perhaps they would will be able to clinch something aside from another straight losing season.
At least Rodgers, who has career-low 54.8 Complete QBR as a newcomer this year, admitted it.
Rodgers’ accuracy suffered this season.
“Oh no, there is missed throws without a doubt,” Rodgers said. “But a number of the ones which that you probably think are missed throws maybe we’re not on the same page”
The main reason, however, was clear.
“Just not being on the identical page with the guys we are pitching into,” Rodgers said.
Sunday’s loss was contemplating Rodgers was:
Most noticeably, Rodgers over shot beginner recipient Equanimeous St. Brown to some post for that which should’ve been a 23-yard touchdown from the initial quarter.
“I missed that you a little inside, I think,” Rodgers said. “He had been still keeping an angle pretty high; I actually don’t think it had been a bad route. It had been a bad throw”
But that wasn’t the sole person.
“I believe that it’s only a little bit of what,” Philbin said. Some of those throws moving around and are extended plays, and I know he’s made some plays that were wonderful in that at the past. He has this year.
“But it’s only a little bit of what. Sometimes it’s been the security it has been the paths, sometimes it has been the throws. I actually don’t know it’s simply Aaron missing throws. Undoubtedly there’s some. I believe that is sort of common for a quarterback. However, a bit more function of the offense, I think, executing improved. Plus a number of our youth, you realize we have some young guys out there. A number of that leads.”
His knee injury from the season-opening win over the Bears didn’t help him this season. Neither did a pulled on the last play of the first half of Sunday.
If there is something it’s that Rodgers was down this path before. Prior to his collar bone in Week 6 last season, he had been to a 14-game rip dating back to into the 2016 season in which he threw 3-7 touchdowns and five interceptions, performed 67.3 percent of his passes and had an evaluation 110.4. The Packers went like the 2016 play offs. From the 14-game stretch earlier that, when every one thought exactly what was wrong with Rodgers, the amounts were 3-1 touchdowns, 10 interceptions, also a 61.7 per cent completion rate and also a 91.7 passer evaluation for a 5-9 record.
But he has missed a lot of matches this season, and he has banged up now. Having a slot guy like who legitimately will acquire open time. Obviously, I’m good about our young guys and also our tight end situation moving forward, and I think we have a supreme gift in Davante.”
It takes some creative roster construction by Gutekunst that this off season to create the Packers backagain. The gift difference with the Bears could not have been obvious on Sunday.
Even a tad bit more help from the quarterback wouldn’t hurt, either.
“I think that it’s unfair to mention, ‘Oh geez, he’s got to do far better’ Well, he’s got to perform. And we have to guard much better. The pass, the route theories, the route running, it’s all tied together.
