The Oklahoma City Thunder have found the option on coach Billy Donovan’s arrangement to its 2019-20 season, the final year on his original five-year bargain a league source told ESPN.
Donovan includes a 150-96 (.610) listing within his three-plus seasons with the Thunder, monitoring only Steve Kerr, Gregg Popovich and Brad Stevens for victories with one team in that length of time.
GM Sam Presti and thunder executive VP has worked closely with Donovan, whom he believed the strengthening of the contract largely a formality, and hired of Florida three decades before. It’s likely that a powerful playoff operation may inspire the company to pursue a contract expansion with Donovan, but his contract is guaranteed through second season.
Donovan has got the Thunder in the next place at the Western Conference, 18-10 and 1.5 games supporting first-place Denver.
Donovan won 2 national championships and reached three Final Fours before Presti recruited him after Scott Brooks’ dismissal to the NBA.
