The upcoming season will also mark the 70th running of the Southern 500.
Darlington will honour certain moments and heroes of the 1990-94 age of the sport’s history, including the end of Famer Richard Petty’s career and also the start of Hall of Fame inductee Jeff Gordon’s career.
The course will also pay special excitement during its 2019 race weekend on Spartanburg, S.C., native David Pearson, who died Nov. 1-2 at age 83. Pearson holds the mark for its maximum Cup victories at the track (10).
“Lots of legendary drivers made names for the activity achieved enormous growth during this time period under the direction of Bill France Jr.,” said Darlington President Kerry Tharp.
Darlington will feature a commemorative ticket design honoring Pearson and his history in Darlington for its 2019 Bojangles’ Southern 500.
“Although we are highlighting the 1990-94 age, we felt it was important to pay tribute to David Pearson on our tickets because he truly had been an icon in sc who left an enormous impact on Darlington and around NASCAR,” Tharp explained.
