PHILADELPHIA — Rhys Hoskins could be the face of the Phillies, in spite of a couple notable off season acquisitions within the past couple of weeks.

Only someone like Bryce Harper or Manny Machado may knock him out of that perch.

But Hoskins is pleased to oblige whilst the Phillies pursue Harper, Machado as well as other free agents in the forthcoming weeks and months.

“I’ve talked to guys, yeah,” Hoskins said. “But nothing overly extensive. Just trying to offer a helping hand if I can, offer a new player’s perspective of what this organization is, what the metropolis is. I think there is a issue that the groups of a number of the guys, right. Should they wish to talk to me if they want to consult with my fiancée they are able to. Therefore just sort of experiencing that outlook available is useful. And I look forward to hopefully having more conversations with guys later on .”

Hoskins’ representative is Scott Boras. Harper’s agent is Boras. Yes, Hoskins and Harper have spoken together.

“Again, it’s simply more of me offering any look at from this city is like, exactly what the organization is much like, exactly what the clubhouse is much like, what [director Gabe Kapler] resembles,” Hoskins said. “It’s not me offering advice . If he wants it, and I’ve given this to him, that I am here for a chat if he wants it and it’d help.”

If Harper or Machado would be a better fit in Philadelphia, hoskins would not state. Why would he? Either would be a gigantic upgrade to get a club that expects to win at least 10 more matches last season.

“Both are really good at what they do,” Hoskins said.

Hoskins has been already affected by the moves of this offseason. After the Phillies traded Carlos Santana along with J.P. Crawford to the Mariners to get shortstop Jean Segura and aid pitchers Juan Nicasio along with James Pazos, it returned him to first base after playing season in Leftfield. McCutchen may just take Hoskins’ invest left.

More moves are expected. A left-handed reliever could be signed by the Phillies at some point. Zach Britton is a Boras client, too.

“If we are done making motions, I think we’ve made some pretty decent motions,” Hoskins said. “We are better as a baseball team. And that is very, very exciting to us players, I presume.”
