An option to expand the contract of Jan Vertonghen with the club has been activated by tottenham.
The Belgium guardian, who is currently sidelined using a knee injury, was set to see that his deal perish in the summer.
But the 31-year-old’s contract has been extended by Spurs .
Vertonghen has made 264 appearances for the club since joining from Dutch Ajax in 2012, but just 14 in 2013 due to injury issues.
He follows Dele Alli, Son Heung Min, Harry Kane and Davinson Sanchez who have signed contracts before seven weeks.
