Former Liverpool and Republic of Ireland forwards Michael Robinson was clinically diagnosed with skin cancer.

The 60-year-old is just one of Spain’s most underrated sports broadcasters.

Robinson, who played for Preston, Manchester City, Brighton and Queens Park Rangers, settled after completing his career.

“Rarely can a person get to feel as much tokens of affection as I am becoming,” he wrote on Twitter.

“When for an instant I lacked guts, you have bolstered me.

“I am really thankful and feeling as if I had been in Anfield once they sang You’ll Never Walk Alone.”

In his only season at Anfield – 1983-84 – Robinson helped the Reds win the First Division, European Cup and League Cup.

He won 24 caps for the Republic.
