Manchester United will appoint a caretaker manager to succeed the sacked Jose Mourinho on Saturday before their Premier League game with Cardiff.
Former Red Devils striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is one name into consideration to assume control for the rest of the summer season – as the club seem to emphasise having a technical director of football and a brand new permanent supervisor in the summer.
Who do they need and exactly what do they need?
United’s wishlist is
- Get the most out of United’s big money signings and generate an identifiable style.
- Create players that are young.
- Understand the philosophy, culture and core values of this club including its assaulting customs.
- Create an optimistic environment with both staff and players.
- Work inside a brand new structure, including reporting into a technical director of football.
Who might that be?
- Diagnosis: Yesterday’s man? Can it be Mourinho finished at the top level?
He’ll be the surface of this list. His Tottenham side play attractive football, and he’s spent very little in contrast to his own Premier League rivals.
Pochettino includes a reputation for pulling the max from their squad he has and has been credited with developing English players at the heart of Gareth Southgate’s vibrant, exciting national side up, although spurs are built around players he did not sign.
He is known to have a touch with both players and staff, also he already works under a chairman – Daniel Levy – who works like a technical director.
Real Madrid were interested in him last summer and, although they’ve Santiago Solari set up until 2021, those rumours persist. So could it be a battle between Actual and United to the highly rated Argentine’s services?
Pochettino only signed a new five-year contract in Spurs past summer and still appears to been on an upwards curve in a club set to produce a delayed movement into a new stadium. If he is prised from the clutches of Levy, expect any club pay at least & pound; 20m to release him.
At a news conference Tuesday, Pochettino only sent his”best wishes” into Mourinho. Tired of being a”perfect fit” for United, he replied:”Lots of rumours that occur within my position in Tottenham – I can’t answer that kind of question. I’m focused on doing the best I can here.”

Zidane has been connected by United since he walked out of their Bernabeu in May – and there’s a train of thought he’d have the ability to get the most out of Anthony Martial and Frenchmen Paul Pogba.
But there remains questions over evolution and his coaching ability of players, having inherited a group of celebrities that are worldwide in Madrid.
He’d also be costly in terms of salary – but given United have only spent upwards of £18m to sack Mourinho, is any fee for any boss much of a problem in order?
However, if Zidane was the top option of that the club, why would they need to wait patiently until the end of the summer season?
United have spoken into the Atletico Madrid boss before throughout managerial investigations.
However, is he the ideal man to follow Mourinho, given style of football and his reputation?
Simeone has punched above his weight in La Liga is tactically well organised, and can be fantastic in creating a siege mentality such as United boss Sir Alex Ferguson, and even Mourinho in their very best.
That – long as it is’us versus them’ and never’me versus them’.
Who will be the care taker manager?
Find and the team want to re set a feel good factor back, with all the team playing with’that the United manner’. Perhaps they accepted they are not planning to finish in the top four of the Premier League? Is this style over stuff, In that case?
The next man in line is going to be somebody synonymous who the players will enjoy dealing with, and with United. They will get the fans on side and will comprehend the demands of this club.
Academy director Nicky Butt and assistant director Michael Carrick are ruled out. Who are the candidates in it stands out?
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
The Norwegian is under consideration. A crowd favourite to get a remedy and through to the bookies’ lists from his time as a new person. Boss from May 2008 to December 2010 and A trainer at United, he’s steeped in the history of the club.
Before returning to his home land solskjaer made to control team Molde in Norway, subsequently led Cardiff in the Premier League in 2014.
He is available given that the season has finished – and only restarts in March.
He has signed a contract with Molde – but can United pay a fee to’borrow’ their own Treble-winning icon?
The Frenchman is top of bookies’ lists. He spent two years in United and has built a favorable reputation for a coach.
Blanc has operated on top level with Paris St Germain but is he can he know the customs and really synonymous with the team? He has never managed in British football. He also looks an outsider.
A very long shot. United Premier League-winning captain in 1992 93 and, unlike former teammates Mark Hughes and Paul Ince, his playing and managerial career has never accepted a competitor him.
So could reestablish that venture He’s worked with United assistant director Mike Phelan. But could that appointment catch fans’ imagination as he left more than twenty decades ago?
A valued and powerful portion of Ferguson’s back room crew, credited with being largely responsible for the growth of Portugal great Cristiano Ronaldo… but currently in charge of Iran heading to the Asia Cup.
Even the United legend was missed for the job – other than a very short term basis – despite staying at the team when David Moyes and Louis van Gaal left. Manager of a Wales side. Another shot.
One for the romantics. Perhaps not a trainer in the United icon and their own right has been out from this game for quite a while. Occasionally quoted as saying he’d love to handle the Red Devils, however, has to be considered a massive outsider.
