Szafnauer was chief operating officer in Force India, which dropped earlier this season and has been reincarnated as a brand new company and F1 entry referred to as journaling Point Force India.
Even the’new’ team, owned by a consortium headed by Lawrence Stroll, called Szafnauer as team principal and CEO.
But he had chances to leave during the cloudy period in the team’s future had been unknown.
“I had other chances however it’s tough for me to express’stick together’ after which I leave,” Szafnauer told Motorsport.com.
“It would be quite hypocritical to perform that. I have never entertained the thought of moving elsewhere unless this, for sure, was not likely to go.
“I’d rather be known as the guy who performed a little bit like Captain Sully [Chesley Sullenberger] on the trip that landed at the Hudson as opposed to the guy [Francesco Schettino] who had been on the Costa Concordia that flew over in the Med — he had been the very first off the ship.
“I really don’t enjoy that, easier to stick to it. In the end it had been the perfect decision.”
Force India went to government at the close of July, with the team’s salvation by way of a Stroll-led consortium confirmed bit more than a week later.
This process was complicated by the takeover turning in an asset purchase, which forced the should decode the Force India F1 entry and pay a brand fresh one under the Racing Point name.
Szafnauer explained the struggle of keeping the team together”was not trivial” in that time, with technical manager Andy Green already understood to have been approached earlier in the season.
“Not knowing, with good offers on the table from different teams, it had been problematic to get sure.
“But if people rely on you as a leader and you happen to be honest with them to get the entire time you’ve worked together they are inclined to think you even in difficult situations.
“I saw the future being better than yesteryear. I said,’Stick with us during this period of doubt plus it’ll soon be better at the other end’.
I actually don’t believe we lost anyone. We lost one or 2 but that has been prior government. They return! This has been a outcome.”
