PHILADELPHIA — Eagles defensive end Chris Long had special directions for Fletcher Cox on how he should light the candles inside his locker stall Thursday afternoon.

“The big ones. Do not light the little ones.

“fine, bro,” Cox reacted since he strove to find the grill lighter to do the job. “Do not take up a flame .”

Long is hoping to maintain good vibes going via a Nick Foles shrine he constructed on his locker shelf Thursday. There is a framed picture of Foles out of his days with the St. Louis Rams, a personalized replica of Foles’ book,”Believe It,” and some religious candles to complete the result.

“He’s been around to bail us out when we’ve had injuries before. And this weekend, no different,” Long said in explaining the shrine. “I know he is going to appear enormous .”

He also worked his magic at Los Angeles last week well to guide the Eagles to a season-saving upset win on the Rams later Wentz was lost to a stress fracture in his backagain.

The team’s playoff hopes have been in stake this Sunday at a home game against the 10-4 Houston Texans. The team is demonstrably feeling.

That the shrine has been seen by foles, Long said. “I left him see it. It is for him.

“I just don’t think he likes the eye. Nevertheless, it’s not about attention. It is about energy. Give him some energy. It’s going to do the job. He always shows up big for us.”
