Northampton Saints have been awarded a bonus-point triumph after Saturday’s European Challenge Cup match at Timisoara Saracens had to be postponed.
The Pool 1 match has been called off because of snow, with the decision taken just 20 minutes before kick-off.
A misconduct complaint from the Romanian club was considered on Friday.
They were found to possess”not accepted all appropriate measures” to protect the pitch, also Saints were granted a four-try bonus point 28-0 triumph.
Both Timisoara Saracens and also European Professional Club Rugby have the right to appeal from the decision taken by an independent disciplinary committee.
The match represented a 2,700 mile roundtrip for Saints and their fans.
A club statement said:“The committee determined that Timisoara Saracens’ preparation of the playing surface was deficient because that pitch covers weren’t in place, the undersoil heating was not ready in good time and no suitable alternative place for the match was accessible”
The committee decision means Saints have three wins out of four group games, nevertheless they remain second in Pool 1 behind French club Clermont Auvergne.
