HOUSTON — As a parttime out linebacker and a parttime defensive end for its Texans, Jadeveon Clowney is usually asked to wear many diverse hats, but he doesn’t let this alter his approach.

“Wherever they put me, ” I feel as if I could make a play,” Clowney stated. “That is only my mindsetNo matter where they put me, I understand I could get a play”

With Watt in 14.5 sacks and Clowney in 8.0, they have united for more than half of Houston’s total and almost twice the Oakland Raiders‘ 1-2 sacks with just two matches remaining.

Clowney additionally has 17 quarterback hits this season and is within striking distance of his career-high 9.5 sacks, set last season. When they can finally arrive at 10 sacks at the final two regular-season games against the Philadelphia Eagles and the Jacksonville Jaguars, it will fortify his argument for a larger contract in the offseason. He’s making $12.3 million while playing out his fifth-year option and can be a free agent in the spring, even if the Texans may have to decide if they can afford to keep Clowney and Watt.

Clowney, the 2014 No. 1 draft pick, was plagued by injuries and also a bust during his first two seasons in Houston.

“Individuals don’t even know, man,” Clowney stated. “It is crazy. I have hurt in my own first NFL game and didn’t really have a chance to show everyone exactly what I really can do. I came straight back and have started to build up, but I still feel as if I have a lot of work to do.”

The criticism has certainly been increasingly difficult to justify in recent decades. Earlier this past week, Clowney was named for his third consecutive Pro Bowl.

“I have been working so hard and playing hard because of my own teammates. This would go to every one of my team mates, as it has more than individual effort. We all contribute. You could have picked any one of the guys”

Aside from being one of the league’s top pass-rushers, Clowney also moonlights as at the very top run-stopper.

He’s got 37 total tackles (31 solo), 14 tackles for loss and two fumble recoveries in 13 matches played this season. He’s tied for ninth in the NFL in tackles for loss also it has four matches with multiple tackles for loss. His 51 tackles for loss since 20-16 are tied to the third most in the NFL during that interval, and he also leads the NFL in run ends with 31.5 since 20-16.

“We have always thought he’d the flexibility,”” Texans defensive coordinator Romeo Crennel said. “You have to make use of him how you presume he best helps the team. We’ve transferred him around a bit this season, and he’s taken to it because he’s ready to produce plays inside and outside”

Clowney said he feels like he has already been asked to play more snaps in linebacker last season than in his previous four decades, a task he adopts.

Houston ranks No. 1 in allowing opponents only 3.6 rushing yards per attempt and No. 4 using only 1,236 rushing yards allowed this season.

“Whatever I can do to help this team — I Will lineup anywhere,” Clowney stated. “They know I’m here to help, also I’m prepared to do whatever is needed.”

In winning each of its past four contests, Philadelphia has topped 100 rushing yards in each win, a number it neglected to reach in three of its four previous games.

“This really is like a playoff game for us,”” Clowney stated. “There is so much at stake, and you’ve only got to go out there and play hard. You wish to acquire all of them. We will arrive and play with — that’s what we’re there for, to win games”
