Manchester United great Peter Schmeichel says the golf club should appoint a manager of football and considers he’d make a fantastic candidate.
United sacked Jose Mourinho as manager on Tuesday and also have called ex-player Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as caretaker boss, with the side-by-side Cardiff 5-1 in his first game in charge on Saturday.
They do not own a manager of football but are expected to recruit one.
“I’m actually thinking about putting my name in there,” Schmeichel said.
Former Tottenham and Southampton mind of recruitment Paul Mitchell, who is at German top-flight side RB Leipzig, has been related to the position.
Speaking to BBC Radio 5 live’s Sportsweek,” former Denmark goal keeper Schmeichel included:”It’s a challenging thing to figure out on your own, every one talks about you; the examination, and I’m not scared of this. In addition, it is a big shift in.
“I really want to become involved with football again at any time. I know I’m growing older, but my life has just turned a different manner once I retired from football”

The 55-year-old spent eight years at Manchester United as a player, winning five Premier League titles, three FA Cups and the Champions League.
He is considered as one of United players and has been named Footballer of the Year during his period.
“What’s really important is to acquire exactly the Manchester United culture straight back and back the identity,” said Schmeichel.
“I would like to visit [the project head to] someone that has played , also certainly will attract some of the Sir Alex [Ferguson] attitude back in the whole of the soccer club.
