While the Oakland Raiders begin contacting general manager applicants, not every one has been receptive.
Former New York Giants GM Jerry Reese refused the Raiders’ petition to interview to get their vacant GM job, league sources tell ESPN.
The Raiders wanted to speak with Reese, who had been fired by the Giants annually before, however he rebuffed the opportunity to work together with Oakland head coach Jon Gruden.
The problem of prospective GM candidates around the team is the fact that the job won’t carry the form of autonomy that many GM jobs do.
Reese, 55, served as the Giants’ GM from 2007 to 2017, helping ny win Super Bowls over this stretch. But he had been fired last December and then-coach Ben McAdoo whilst the Giants were headed by an eventual 3-13 conclusion, their fourth losing season in five decades.
The Raiders are trying to displace GM Reggie McKenzie, who had been fired earlier this month.
