The card, which will be headlined by the bout for the empty light heavyweight name between former longtime champion Jones and alexander-gustafsson , has been transferred into the Forum in Inglewood, Calif. from the first location of t mobile Arena in Las Vegas, after Jones’ Nevada Athletic Commission license has been denied because of an abnormal USADA evaluation result.
While fighters up and the card down who are receiving their plans re-shuffled and fans that are now stuck with flights into Vegas and hotel bills certainly aren’t happy, Jones is appreciative of the efforts the UFC made to move the card.
Also to the end, Jones, who has twice been suspended over failed USADA evaluations, issued an announcement claiming his innocence on Sunday night and devoting the California State Athletic Commission for accommodating the change:
I’m centered on achieving my goal of reclaiming my heavy weight title. I’ve voluntarily submitted to every USADA evaluation in the lead up for this fight and USADA has confirmed what I’ve been saying all along, that I’m a sterile athlete. I thank the California
State Athletic Commission and also Andy Foster for supporting me and doing the perfect thing. I Cannot wait to combat Alex Gustafsson that Saturday December 29th at the La Forum in Inglewood.
