Furniture Row Racing was an improvement in modern NASCAR, having risen up to the very top of the game because of single-car operation in just more than ten years.

Barney Visser’s outfit started off in Dover in 2005, finishing a quiet 34th with Kenny Wallace at the wheel. Visser’s company Furniture Row has been the sole real host on the Chevrolet Monte Carlo.

Back in 2008, they won his first pole with Joe Nemechek in Talladega, however it wasn’t until 2011 that their hardwork and dedication was successful. 

Regan Smith was their motorist and they kicked off the year with their very first top ten as an organization, placing seventh in the Daytona 500. But just ten races into this growing summer season, a bet to stay out turned into the mad of this year. Carl Edwards was hounding Smith at the last two laps however neglected to find a way around, allowing the No. 78 to snag a large success in the Southern 500.

From there onward, there is no looking backagain. Truex forced it into the Championship 4 that year, placing fourth in the standings. He’d triumph four more races in 2016, just passing up a name shot due to an unfortunate engine failure while in the fall Talladega race. 

However there wasn’t any stopping them in 20 17. The team, which formed a more technical alliance with Joe Gibbs Racing and TRD the calendar year before, won a season-leading eight races on the way to the tournament over Kyle Busch. But halfway through the 2018 season as they planned to safeguard the peak, shocking news all over the NASCAR world.  Furniture Row Racing would discontinue operations at the finish of the growing summer season.

Having the inability to find suitable financing for the 2019 season, this modern NASCAR success narrative was about to end almost as abruptly as it began. It raised several uncomfortable questions regarding this present condition of the activity where the defending winners — who were still winning a number of races — couldn’t continue financing their single-car Cup operation. They went headtohead NASCAR biggest teams and overcome them, but just 1 year later being crowned the champions, they were put to close their doors.

They failed to go out quietly, but since Truex won the following four races made his way into the Championship 4 again. But alas, he came one position lacking scoring backtoback championships within a psychological ending to his period with the No. 78 team.

“I’m going to miss the guys,” he said after the finale. “Wish we can ’ve won it. We had it. We only couldn’t even go over 15 laps, after calling his years with the team and Barney Visser that the”best time of my life. I don’t even know what to say. Those guys have been amazing. Theyrsquo;ve left me a superstar in NASCAR. I’m just very thankful for all. ”

The ending of an age

FRR is gone, having run their ultimate race. Truex and team chief Cole Pearn are moving to JGR in 2019 with a brand new team purchasing their charter.  But the question remains, why has been one of NASCAR’s top teams incapable to carry on on? Two divisions lower from the Truck Series, newly crowned champion Brett Moffitt has lost his ride because Hattori Racing needed a motorist who attracted more funding to the team for 2019.

So what’s the problem and how can it be corrected? I wont assume to know the solution, but the issue still should be asked. Is this the start of a fad, or an anomaly? 

Whatever the solution or the solution, there isn’t any uncertainty that FRR proved what might be done with the right folks who are driven to produce the journey on the top. And can we find some other team similar to this increase again? If that’s the case, who are the following Furniture Row?
