Even the six-time world champion, who’s re joined the French manufacturer after seven months off, has been busy getting to grips with the C3 as part of his preparations for next month’s Rallye Monte-Carlo (24-27 January).
He drove the car for 2 weeks on gravel in Portugal by the close of November and completed just two weeks of asphalt testing from the French Alps a week.
Ogier is bidding to reverse the c 3 WRC — a car that has won three WRC events since it was launched at the start of 2017 — to some machine which could consistently challenge at front in 2019.
I believe it’s pretty ordinary that if you swap cars you visit gaps. You see advantages and also some negatives.
“Now there are always gaps that you need to accommodate plus some you probably can improve. This ’s exactly that which we are focusing on already.
One of the very significant discoveries Ogier made during testing could be the necessity to improve the C3’s operation in various conditions.
“You can find things which need to be shifted easier to my taste,” the 35-year-old clarified. “” I feel this car absolutely showed some excellent rate in some states this past year.
“However, I guess what’s missing, should you check the consequences and my impression, is the vehicle needs to be able to be fast in longer states. This ’s exactly what we need to improve.
Having won four world titles with Volkswagen and 2 with the M-Sport Ford World Rally Team, Ogier’s target is to increase his haul of 44 WRC successes with Citroën at 2019.
He confessed it’s most likely to have some time to enter his stride — however he’s relishing the 1st round struggle which lies ahead in monte carlo.
He included: “I’m the one who ’s changed teams and others are staying where they are. This provides them the chance to be absolutely prepared to start the next season. However, for me personally I won’t be yet 100% or completely satisfied with my brand new car. Of courseI hope it to be challenging. However, this ’s also a motivation for mepersonally.
