The Pittsburgh Penguins have signed centre Jake Guentzel to a five-year contract expansion using an average yearly value of $6 million, the team announced Thursday.

The deal begins following year and can tie Guentzel into Pittsburgh through the 2023-24 year old.

Auston Matthews,” Connor McDavid, Alex Ovechkin and Nathan MacKinnon were named captains for the 20-19 NHL All-Star Game.

“Jake established himself as a consequence player for we from the start, especially during 20 17 Stanley Cup playoffs,” general manager Jim Rutherford said. “He has come to be a core player in the team and we are thrilled for Jake signed long lasting with the Penguins.”

Guentzel, 2-4, has 18 assists and 15 goals in 2013.

He starred during Pittsburgh’s Stanley Cup title run in 20 17 using an NHL playoffs-best 13 goals, the second most ever by a rookie from the postseason. He also had 21 points.
