Is predicted to miss his fourth consecutive game Sunday, the team announced Friday.
It’s a fitting end to a frustrating season for Beckham, who signed a lucrative new deal that left him the match’s highest-paid large receiver that summer.
There was hope earlier this week which Beckham could return for Sunday’s season finale against the Dallas Cowboys in Met Life Stadium — a game which may possibly be quarterback Eli Manning‘s continue with the team.
Beckham, however, failed to practice this week and can remain sidelined because of a personal injury that’s prevailed because weekly 1-2 loss to the Eagles. Beckham has been leg-whipped around the final play of that game by Philadelphia linebacker Kamu Grugier-Hill, who was fined $20,054 because of his actions.
Beckham played the following week at a win across the Chicago Bears before finishing the final four games. Those are all career lows for a season where he did not forget the majority of the season because of trauma.
After missing all 20 17 with a busted ankle, there did not appear to be any noticeable fall off this particular season. Beckham was still explosive and dynamic occasionally, notching five 100-yard performances in 1-2 games.
His decreased production seemed more for a product of the Giants’ offensive struggles early this year. Manning threw just eight touchdown passes in the first eight games, and Beckham did not put on the board before Week 5.
However there was obviously shame. Beckham said in an October interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson that he couldn’t rule out Manning as the situation and confessed he wasn’t fully content with his role.
The Giants (5-10) missed the playoffs for the 2nd consecutive season.
Beckham, 25, signed up a last-minute bargain that could be worth up to $95 million this off season. He was not able to abide by along with his best season. He did not make the Pro Bowl for just the 2nd time in his five-year career.
“You just got to work harder. That’s all I could say,” Beckham said past week. “The guys who did make it, all these are very talented men and women who had incredible seasons, so you got to tip your hat . They left it in and that’s just motivation. Just continue workingharder to where you can be for the reason that next season, however, just got to tip your hat to those guys, indeed.”
