World Endurance Championship team gdrive Running has confirmed that reigning FIA FormulaE champion Jean-Eric Vergne will go back to the team following year.
Vergne, who now races for Techeetah in FormulaE, signed a new deal with gdrive for 2019 that’ll find him partner Roman Rusinov. A third driver is set to be announced later on.
The Frenchman helped the Russian team into the European Le Mans Series success and crossed the line first at this year’s Le Mans 24 Hours, winning the LMP2 class, until later being disqualified over an illegally modified fuelling rig.
“Really eager to be continuing my story using gdrive Racing in 2019! It’will be a busy year,” he wrote on societal networking.
G-Drive recently analyzed its Oreca 07 Gibson at the Sebring International Raceway with Gary Findlay and Job van Uitert taking turns behind the wheel.
The ensemble has to confirm its full program with selected WEC events and a possible ELMS campaign on the cards, so therefore it’s not understood how many events will clash with Vergne’s FormulaE responsibilities, although opening two ELMS rounds clash using the Rome EPrix and Monaco EPrix.
