Stars centre Tyler Seguin said he was amazed at comments by CEO Jim Lites concerning his performance this season, whilst priest Jamie Benn said,”I really don’t play .”
“The comments Jim Lites made seeing Tyler and Jamie are both irresponsible and insulting,” the NHLPA said in an statement. “If players led such comments towards management, how would those be regarded? To express that Jim Lites’ behavior is unprofessional would be a gross understatement. In professional sports, most of players and teams move through highs and highs, but this really is simply not how professionals handle adversity”
Lites, as stated by the Athletic, had told me that Seguin and Benn were”f—— horses; I don’t understand how else to put it.”
Lites, who said the feeling also was shared by team owner Tom Gaglardi, lasted to unload on the team’s superstar players.
“For me personally, it has pissed me off,” Lites said. “What nobody says is what is totally obvious for meWe are becoming terrible play from our top two players. … we’re a stars-driven league, and our stars are not getting it done. … These guys are not good enough. They aren’t sufficient for me’ they’re not good enough for the proprietor “
I think the whole team finds it,” Seguin said Saturday. “We know that individuals now need to play better and we understand that.”
Seguin, that signed an eight-year, $78.8 million expansion in September, said he had not spoke to Lites considering that the conclusion of last season and was caught offguard by his comments.
“just a small amount of a surprise there. I figure in one aspect, because I obviously did not understand how he believed,” Segin said Saturday. “Thus, it came as a bit of a surprise. However, I mentioned it in practice I understand I need to be improved.
“Jamie understands he wants to be improved, and we will need to lead this team to be improved. I think our organization should be better. I think everyone is frustrated the last handful of years and this kind of came on us.”
