Bera Bera Expect to surprise
At the two previous seasons, Super Amara Bera Bera strove to achieve at the Women’s EHF Cup Group Period, however they stumbled against Brest Bretagne Hand Ball at Qualification Round 3 at 2016/17 and against Kastamonu Belediyesi GSK at Qualification Round 2 in 2017/18.
The Spanish champions started this season from the continental top flight but were unable to be eligible for the band suits. But, Bera Bera did better at the Women’s EHF Cup, beating Hungary’s Dunaújvárosi Kohász KA at Qualification Round 3 to reach the team phase.
Goal already reached
“To Bera Bera, playing at the group phase can be an objective fulfilled. In the last two years, we were eradicated by teams that were powerful from the qualification and our desire was among the best 16 teams. You wish to enjoy this phase,” said head trainer Imanol Alvarez.
Bera Bera are potentially the underdogs at a competitive Group D. They’ll match H-C Podravka Vegeta, who opened this season in the Women’s EHF Champions League, current Titleholders SCM Craiova and Danish club Nykøbing Falster Håndbold, who are observed by head trainer Alvarez as favourites for this year ’s Women’s EHF Cup alongside Siófok KC Hungary and SG BBM Bietigheim.
Injured players recuperated
However, the Spanish team’s trainer doesn’t intend to quit until the beginning. “After we are at the group, our next goal is always to reach the quarter final,” he explained.
“Our group includes some teams. Yet, our wounded players will regain. Let’s play without pressure and also we can surprise you,” added Alvarez.
Really, Bera Bera is now rely on directly wing Maitane Etxeberria and left back Nora Azurmendi who have been sidelined earlier in the summer due to injuries. On the other hand, Brazilian right-back Priscila Dos Santos has undergone an operation and won’t be able to play at the group period.
