Embiid was listed as questionable for the game with soreness in his knee, which forced him to miss Philadelphia’s clinic on Saturday.
“It is not anything that we’re concerned with,” Brown stated. “We’re merely reacting to his own thoughts and the medical staff’s thoughts that tonight could be a good place to sit.
“It is something that is recent and (we’re) merely being precautionary with it.”
After missing his first two seasons in the NBA due to a navicular fracture on his right foot, then 51 games in 201617 (when he underwent surgery on a meniscus tear in his knee) and 19 games this past 12 months, Embiid had played in 35 of the 76ers’ first 36 games this season.
The single game Embiid had missed in 201819 was for remainder rather than a specific injury.
Brown told colleagues that veteran Amir Johnson will start in the place of Embiid.
