SAN ANTONIO — With all the schedule intensifying, Spurs forward Rudy Gay will not play Monday and can miss extra time because of sprained left wrist,” coach Gregg Popovich said.

He did not provide a schedule for his yield that is possible.

“I really don’t know,” Popovich said when asked when Gay may be back in the lineup. “I only know he isn’t there tonight. Right now, that’s all that matters”

Jakob Poeltl will begin in Gay’s area from the Celtics, Popovich said.

Gay, who is averaging 13.7 points, 6.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 30 starts this season, entered the lockerroom Monday with a black ribbon on his left wrist.

He explained the accident happened when he dropped upon his own wrist throughout Saturday’s match against the Clippers, but he”did not feel it until after the match” and that he”couldn’t even move .”
