Together with reports Chelsea have bid for over €50-million Christian Pulisic, Craig Burley isn’t sure it’s the ideal move for that young American.
However, Chelsea have proceeded quickly to tie up a bargain for the 20-year-old whose contract with Dortmund was expected to expire in 2020.
“It has ever been Christian’s big dream to play in Premier League,” Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said in a club announcement. “This clearly has something todo with his origin and so we’re unable to prolong his contract.
“Due to this backdrop with his contract running in 2020, we decided to accept Chelsea’s incredibly lucrative deal.
“Christian Pulisic comes with a perfect character. I am sure he’ll is going to do all they could in the coming months to contribute his enormous possessions into the squad and reach Borussia Dortmund’s athletic goals along with his teammates.”
Dortmund ruled out attempting to sell the U.S. attacking midfielder in the January transfer window, but sources told ESPN FC he would be allowed to leave the team in six months’ time susceptible to an acceptable transport fee.
However, Chelsea’s offer to complete the move now and loan him back for the remainder of the growing summer season convinced Dortmund to agree a deal.
Since moving to Dortmund in 2016, Pulisic has made 80 appearances however lost his regular starting place under Lucien Favre this campaign as the club were crowned winter champions in Germany.
