The Mets announced Tuesday that they’ve signed left-hander Hector Santiago to a Minor League contract with an invitation to Spring Training.

Santiago adds veteran depth to the Mets’ roster. When he’s got a strong showing that spring also leaves the teamhe could provide additional flexibility for your pitching staff. The 31-year-old spent a lot of his career as a newcomer before turning to some reliever in 2018.

Santiago’s best season came with the Angels in 2015, when he made his only career all star nod and finished with a 3.59 ERA and 162 strikeouts in 180 2/3 innings. He owns a 4.83 ERA across three seasons as that time.
