BOSTON — Alex Ovechkin put Zdeno Chara in unknown land early in a game Thursday night involving the Washington Capitals and Boston Bruins.

Chara, the NHL’s greatest player at 6-foot-9, was flipped head over heels into the Capitals’ seat on a shove from the 6-3 Ovechkin late in the first phase.

The TD Garden crowd gasped, but play continued and there wasn’t any immediate on ice retaliation. The Bruins captain tumbled straight on the ice quickly and re joined the play.

The 41-year-old Chara has really made a name for himself delivering bruising strikes.

Washington led 1-0 after a period after Jakub Vrana‘s early break away aim.
