Joe Gibbs Racing confirmed the increased increasing loss in J.D. (Jason Dean) Gibbs in a discharge that read as follows:”It’s with fantastic sadness that we announce the departure of Joe Gibbs Racing Co-Founder and Co-Chairman, J.D. Gibbs, that passed out earlier tonight at age 49 from complications following a long struggle with a degenerative neurological disease.

“Joe Gibbs Racing appreciates everyone’s respect for solitude of the Gibbs family in this tough time. Additional information about details for a memorial ceremony will soon be coming at the next date.”

It had been revealed in March of 2015 which J.D. was battling the disease. He had been serving as president of JGR during the time. Earlier in lifehe played defensive back and quarterback at William & Mary from 1987 to 1990 while his dad Joe Gibbs coached the Washington Redskins, he led to three Super Bowl titles.

He went across the wall as a team member, winning the 1993 Daytona 500 as a portion of Dale Jarrett’s team. 

The NASCAR community has offered an outpouring of aid following news of his departure.
