Watching the footage, then it’s pretty unnerving initially to see Jonathan King’s reaction to his leg being shattered.

There’s certainly no confusion about if or how it happened. About 20 seconds into his amateur bout against Chris in an American Kombat Alliance (AKA) series in Bossier City, La., last Saturday, King had a sharp leg kick assessed and he instantly reunite since he tried to plant his foot down, stumbling out of the perspective of their camera.

From the next shot, King is seen on his back, his face unbelievably calm since his leg is raised in the atmosphere showing a clear and nasty break. Thankfully, officials responded quickly and King’so injury was attended in the cage shortly before he was brought to the hospital.

King, who trains under the tutelage of fighter Kurt Holobaugh in Gracie United at Amite, La., told MMA Fighting that when he looked calm at the present time, it was so as a result of adrenaline and confusion compared to anything else.

“I didn’t know very well what was going on,” King stated. ’ Because Irsquo;d just came off still another accident where in just one of my struggles I dislocated my elbow, so I had to come back out of that. This was pretty long, when I seen it just couldn’t believe that it actually happened to me . ”

The prior trauma that King is speaking to is a dislocated elbow that he suffered in the next round of a struggle in March. He arrived to the third party, only to succumb to an arm submission and after find yourself on the shelf for seven weeks. He fought in September, falling a break decision, also was made to turn things around against .

Competing against a bigger opponent (King explains himself as an all pure welterweight who has so far only competed at 185 and 205 pounds), the master plan was to allow King to stick and move and affirmed, the very first kick he landed was solid. Then disaster struck.

“I was real calm, I was real rested,” King stated. “I had a gameplan, I was just going to go in and start to become calm, and watch if I could pick him apart, open up him with some jabs, some leg yells. I knew he was going to become a whole lot bigger and more powerful than me, therefore that I had a gameplan together, and that I arrived and pulled a single kick and it landed pretty good.

“I just knew I would land that second one pretty good, I was probably going to drop him with it, therefore I was planted and that I threw it and that I tried to put it down and that I couldn’t believe such a thing. ”

It was later through the ambulance ride that King felt the pain, emotionally and physically, stressing that his career may be finished. At the hospital, it was ascertained that he had broken up his fibula and tibia. Clean fractures, though terrifying all the same.

“They put a rod down my tibia and they put two screws in it and it was an open ended break, therefore it punctured throughout the skin and punctured throughout the muscle, but the doctors had been rather close for this,” King stated. “The first thing I asked them was, ‘Would I be able to fight? ’ And then he said yes, therefore that I don’t plan on letting this prevent me from fighting. ”

Coincidentally, King is really actually a enormous fan of Silva’s also he’s drawing inspiration from just how “The Spider” was able to over come his injury, while also receiving aid from those on social networking who were at a similar situation.

King said he expects there for a six-to-nine month recovery period before he could resume training.
