Former UFC and Strikeforce middle weight champion Luke Rockhold’s most days at 185 pounds are more.
The American Kickboxing Academy product have been agreeing for weeks about jumping till the light heavy weight division. However, after a few injuries forced him to see from the sideline for a lot 2018, Rockhold decided that the time was today to produce the move to 205 pounds.
In terms of when and who he hopes to welcome him to his fresh branch, Rockhold admits that the very top of the positions are already cloudy enough, however he doesn’t expect lots of struggles on his way into what he believes can be an inevitable match-up with champion Jon Jones.
“” I was shooting late March, however we’re looking just like early April today,” Rockhold told Luke Thomas within an appearance on . “This just depends on which competitors fall where they may. I am aware Jon really wanted another struggle really quick, for some reason. He made this Anthony Smith struggle [in UFC 235], therefore that we ’ll see.
“” I understand a couple of those other top guys are matched up. I Believe Thiago Santos along with Jan Blachowicz [are matched up]. Corey Anderson looked adequate the different night [in UFC 232] too. I’m lookin to get a top guy. ”
Declaring the light heavy weight division as “there for the taking,” Rockhold can laugh in what he perceives as a way to the name when compared with middle weight.
“He couldn’t sniff a top at middle weight… [Smith’s fight Jones] is going to be over in the under a round. That’therefore why I don’t understand just why they made this fight. ”
“[Anderson] can last a couple rounds maybe [against Jones],” said Rockhold. “” I think Jan might be among the toughest guys there. Only a tough durable guy. Not very skilled in lots of ways, however durable. ”
1 name Rockhold left-out is domain name challenger Alexander Gustafsson, who came up short against Jones in their name fight at UFC 232 final month. Thinking, Rockhold gave Gustafsson charge for being a game competitor, but confessed he was still hoping for a match up against a guy who may propel him closer into the top, rather than some one who only lost to the champ.
“He obviously has some holes in his game to a lawn. We’ll see where he falls in and the UFC would like to do. Clearly, I wish to struggle a guy on his way into the name and earn a statement. However, it simply depends on which falls. There’s a couple options. We’re speaking about the UFC and we’ll see. We’ll see what falls on the perfect date. I’m trying to find one struggle to put me where I want to become. ”
