Britain’s Dan Evans won his first Grand Slam match as his return out of the drugs ban to reach the Australian Open 2nd round.
The 28-year-old beat fellow qualifier Tatsuma Ito 7-5 6-1 7-6 (10-8) of Japan, throwing his racquet in pleasure in the end.
Evans came back by a yearlong ban in April 2018 after testing positive for cocaine throughout 2017’s Barcelona Open.
He confronts 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer or Denis Istomin next.
Compatriots Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund will also be in action on Monday.
