Truex, 26, has attempted the 500 once earlier in 2014, failing to create the race in the No. 83 BK Racing Camry.

This time he will be driving the No. 71 Tommy Baldwin Racing Camaro.

“I’m very thankful to TBR and Tommy Baldwin with this chance and can’t wait for at Daytona and back in a Monster Energy Cup Series car,” said Truex. “The pressure is really to make it into the race, but Tommy can be a genuine racer, and that I understand he can put every thing into the car to provide a wonderful shot”

He spent full-time in the Xfinity Series with Kaulig Racing, ending the year 12th from the series standings.

“I am excited to have Ryan back in a Tommy Baldwin racing car,” said team owner Tommy Baldwin. “We had success in Daytona at the Xfinity Series, in the past. I’ve understood the Truex family an extremely long period, and it’s really special that people’ll find a way to compete at The DAYTONA 500 together, and hopefully more races since the year goes on. We’re still in search of a main sponsor which we’re expecting to come up with over time to provide TBR a wonderful run this year!”
