Junior-welterweight Pedro Moreno (11-0, 7 KOs) makes his debut introduction on Thompson ’s “New Blood” event on Friday, Feb. 8, from the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario, Calif..

Even the power-punching Moreno faces fellow unbeaten talent Ram On Mascarena (10-0, 5 KOs) at the eight-round principal event.

Moreno, 21, hails from Sacramento, Calif. and a 15-year-old, took home the Silver Gloves Championship at the 110-pound division. Moreno, that yielded a 50-5 record being an amateur, has been likee an associate of this U.S. Junior Olympic team. Those accomplishments, while indeed striking, pale in contrast with his most recent development.

“It means that the world for me to be showcased in the main situation,” said Moreno, who’s trained by Marcus Caballero. “Every fighter wants to headline as rapidly as you can after turning professional. ”

The alliance to main event status comes after listing several impressive wins last 12 months, the last two coming by way of knockout. Reputation in front Moreno’s undefeated mark is the Chilean Mascarena, who’s known for his fast starts.

“He’s going to be a challenging opponent,” said Moreno. “He also comes forward a whole lot and likes to supply pressure. I prefer to resist the very same way. If two fighters love to strike, you are aware of it’s going to be a war. ”

To get ready for Mascarena,” Moreno, that entered the paid positions three decades ago, has been sparring with jeweled prospects Andy Vences and Xavier Martinez.
