Indianapolis Colts linebacker Darius Leonard Moved from a relatively unknown participant to the ’s rookie of the year.

Some questioned why the Colts selected Leonard, who played at South Carolina State, a Football Championship Sub-division college, in the next round of the draft.

The Colts enjoyed Leonard 14, it didn’t take long to appreciate better. He fell into coverage and showed his athleticism simply by going up to intercept Andrew Luck‘s very first pass throughout training camp.

This was a beginning for Leonard.

He also led the 19 more despite the fact that he missed a match this season. His adulthood enabled him to shoulder extra responsibilities what ended up being a very under rated Colts defense.

Colts general manager Chris Ballard by passed talented linebacker Roquan Smith to take shield Quenton Nelson with the No. 6 pick because he had his eyes put on Leonard — that flipped plenty of heads throughout the Senior Bowl in January 2018 — in the next round.

“One of the matters that Chris and his staff do if they are doing all of the research on those guys and there are certain players and their draft cardsthey have been marked in a particular way where we’d designate them identify them kind of Colts players,” s coach stated. “All these are the sort of guys who have the DNAthe makeup of all that we are searching for — all the intangibles, all the type qualities, everything about them. It’s a hard filter to make it to become marked that way, and both Quenton and Darius had this on their card.

“So that says something regarding their adulthood and how fast we presume they’ll develop.”

Leonard was named this season.

If his rookie season was any sign, Leonard is going to be called to a lot of Professional Bowls in his career.
